In this role, you will be the principal coordinator for the Disney Newbuild team, ensuring the successful completion of projects by seamlessly merging Disney Cruise Line Operations, Walt Disney Imagineering projects, and shipyard teams.
About the Role & Team
As a Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in the analysis, decision-making, and communication processes to steer and synchronize project scope and execution for Disney across the entire project lifecycle. You will be responsible for various aspects of the project, including program development, design development, construction, implementation, operational readiness, and finalization.
You will be based at the Disney Cruise Line Offices in London, working on-site four days per week and one day from home. Additionally, you can expect to travel to shipyards in Germany on a monthly basis for one to two weeks.
What You Will Do
As a Project Manager, your responsibilities will include:
1. Program Development and Boxology
- Initiate and manage the entire ship program throughout the project lifecycle, from high-level space boxology to detailed operational requirements.
- Produce a final program book for Operations, Marketing, Sales, Commercial, Travel Services, HR, and Digital and Technology teams’ reference.
- Include functional and creative design and operational details of all public, crew, and stateroom spaces in the program book.
- Provide a comprehensive overview of a typical ‘day in the life onboard’ scenarios.
2. Design Development and Liaison
- Ensure the program requirements are implemented into the General Arrangement planning and design development of each project.
- Act as the key liaison between Disney partners during each stage of the design process.
- Provide project and design managers with detailed analysis and practical evaluations of the design.
- Facilitate effective decision-making from operations teams and resolution management.
3. Industrial Engineering Analysis and Process Development
- Facilitate industrial engineering analysis and processes tool development throughout the project lifecycle.
4. Scope Management
- Manage project objectives and ensure the approved scope of work, including scope changes, remains within the established financial parameters.
- Communicate and obtain approval for any deviations from the established scope.
- Review and confirm the data accuracy of the integrated project and venue completion tracking tool.
- Work with project management on venue tracking for various states of construction and outfitting.
5. Operational Readiness
- Coordinate operational readiness efforts, including OFE loading, vessel commissioning team set up, crew training and costuming, logistics arrangements for crew and business traveler embarkation.
- Ensure operational completion of crew and guest spaces.
- Provide planning and communication support for pre-launch activities.
6. Repositioning Strategy and Planning
- Coordinate the repositioning strategy and develop a detailed repositioning plan on behalf of operations.
- Identify, manage, and communicate pre-repositioning space allocation needs onboard.
- Plan for room utilization, storage planning, and broadcast support.
7. Logistical Planning of Events
- Coordinate the logistical planning of shipyard and inaugural events, such as steel cutting, media cruise, cast preview sailings, etc.
8. Project Reviews and Documentation
- Lead project reviews and manage documentation to be shared with Senior Executives.
Required Qualifications & Skills
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Extensive project management experience in construction planning is essential.
- Cruise industry experience is an advantage but not essential.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and presentation skills for working in a complex, international, matrixed environment with stakeholders of all levels.
- Leadership experience in managing large projects.
- Willingness to travel as required, including weekends and holidays.
- Highly motivated self-starter able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and continuous improvement process skills.
- Proven ability to initiate, organize, prioritize, take and provide direction, and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner.
